Last weekend I ditched the beautiful blue flag beaches of Wales for St Ives. The weather was promising and so I started operation ‘tanned legs’.

I’ve had these shorts for about two months now – been waiting for some warm weather to wear them. Having seen them in my wardrobe everyday I’ve lost interest in them a little, so I was happy to transfer them to ‘beach wear’.

The tomboy in me surfaced as I teamed them with lilac converse. Probably not the right get up for a sneak peak in the Tate en route to beach.

I also bought the blouse in the same pattern which I’ve been wearing to work but soon also to become beachwear – ideal to throw over a bikini to go get a cocktail right?

I’m such a sun worshipper and although I thrive for a great tan every year, I’ve started to be more careful and increased the spf. During my last visit to the Celtic Manor Forum spa I had a skin consultation using a dermo analyzer machine. Thankfully, the sun damage wasn’t as bad as I thought. The staff gave some great advice and re-inforced the dangers of low factors – the wake up call I needed. I invested in Elemis liquid layer factor 30 which will sit firmly in my beach bag.
